Benefits in Resurrection

Q.  What benefits do believers receive from Christ in the resurrection?

A.  At the resurrection, believers being  raised up in glory (1 Corinthians 15:43), shall be openly acknowledged and acquitted in the day of judgment (Matthew 10:32; 25:23), and made perfectly blessed in the full enjoying of God (1 John3:2; 1 Corinthians13:12) to all eternity (1 Thessalonians 4:17-18).

Blessed Are the Sons of God

#526, The Trinity Hymnal (© 1990)

Joseph Humphreys, 1743

 Blessed are the sons of God,

they are bought with Christ’s own blood;

they are ransomed from the grave,

life eternal they shall have:

with them numbered may we be,here and in eternity.

They are justified by grace,

they enjoy the Savior’s peace;

all their sins are washed away,

they shall stand in God’s great day:

with them numbered may we be,

here and in eternity.

They are lights upon the earth,

children of a heav’nly birth;

one with God, with Jesus one,

glory is in them begun:

with them numbered may we be,

here and in eternity.

  1. This was providential reading. After being attacked by a former elder of mine from a Bible Church, he called me an instant Bible toot!!! This reaffirms my faith that we reformed are not all head and no heart. Thank you.

  2. Matthew 5:11 “Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. 12 Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

    It’s shameful how our undershepherds are sometimes so quick to beat the sheep, rather than feed them. Of course in a case like your’s, he must have thought he was doing service to God. It’s true that head knowledge without heart knowledge is detrimental; however, the answer is not to major on heart knowledge and minor on head knowledge, for heart knowledge without head knowledge is also spiritually dangerous.

    I’m glad this meditation was able to comfort you. The reason I post them is so that they may serve as a simple reminder that there is a need for theology to be internalized, applied and to be responded to in doxology or praise to God for revealing that which we are to believe about him and that duty which he requires of us.
