Natural law is said to have been historically the basis on which previous generations stood in order to expand civil rights to previously disenfranchised groups like women and African Americans, among others. Provoked by the recent overturning of “The California Marriage Protection Act” (the famous “Prop 8”–see page 49 of this link), Church historian, Dr. R. Scott Clark, argues that the current fight to win civil rights for unrepentant sodomites, euphamistically psychologized today as homosexuality, and the right of this group to enter into legally sanctioned relationships that bear all the benefits–along with the title of “marriage”–stands on arguments contrary to the dictates of natural law. I highly recommend that you read the straight talk in Dr. Clark’s Heidelblog post, “Sexual Liberation, Natural Law, and the Modern Resistance to Fixed Moral Norms.”

I am going to go read the article, but, first I would make this comment about some things I heard earlier today from one of the attorneys who argued for the proposition to be overturned. The Attorney’s name is Olsen.
He makes quite a persuasive argument except for one problem. When he argues that this sort of marriage relationship does not harm anyone else in society, to wit I say, huh? If the Bible is to be believed and it is, much harm is about to be unleashed upon this society if we permit this ruling to stand.
The institution of marriage is a God thing and has a history prior to the Ten Commandments. It is the most fundamental and basic of all societal building blocks and when you disrupt and destroy this building block the whole society will collapse far more rapidly than if it were not allowed.
I am reminded of these words of Jesus just before they murdered Him:
Luk 23:27 And there followed him a great multitude of the people and of women who were mourning and lamenting for him.
Luk 23:28 But turning to them Jesus said, “Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me, but weep for yourselves and for your children.
Luk 23:29 For behold, the days are coming when they will say, ‘Blessed are the barren and the wombs that never bore and the breasts that never nursed!’
Luk 23:30 Then they will begin to say to the mountains, ‘Fall on us,’ and to the hills, ‘Cover us.’
Luk 23:31 For if they do these things when the wood is green, what will happen when it is dry?”
